The Bach family had talent, and it wasn’t just Dad. The GSSO will illustrate the strength of the Bach family’s work in the baroque style with a special evening, as the orchestra performs works of patriarch Johann Sebastian, along with sons Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and Johann Christian Bach. Concertmaster and local soloist Elliott Markow joins Margaret Herlehy to perform the Johann Sebastian Bach Concerto for Violin and Oboe.

Holiday Pops
Young and old will have a wonderful time as the orchestra celebrates the holiday season with the ever-popular afternoon Holiday Pops concert. This concert features a local school chorus, sing-a-long, and the best in holiday music. Maestro Babb and a special guest conductor entertain and charm all who attend this festive celebration.

The Battle of the Geniuses
Weber: Euryanthe Overture
Mozart: Concerto for Two Pianos
Featured soloists Gregg Pauley and Paul Dykstra, pianos
Mendelssohn: Symphony No. 5, Reformation
With the first day of spring upon us, the GSSO will celebrate the 200th anniversary of Mendelssohn’s birth by performing his biggest symphonic work, Symphony No. 5 “Reformation.” Mendelssohn has been considered by some to be the greatest musical genius ever, but so has Mozart. Utilizing the talents of local soloists Gregg Pauley and Paul Dykstra we will “debate” that topic this evening. Regardless of the results of that “discussion,” the audience will be thoroughly entertained.
